The brief entailed designing a building for the College of Computing at McPherson University. Our goal was to create a warm, welcoming, and embracing institutional structure, as seen by the entrance’s welcoming outstretched arms funneling people into the building. It also achieved its practical requirements by providing offices, labs, study rooms, and breakout spaces for interaction.
Visual elements such as symmetry, balance, warm tones, and colonnades were adopted to represent the institutional nature of the building. One of our primary objectives was sustainability, which was achieved through the use of green areas, courtyards, interior space arrangement and orientation, shading devices, and natural ventilation and lighting
